Por qué los alimentos ecológicos triunfan en la cesta de la compra
Not all food is the same. Apart from the fact that variety is the spice of life and that each one provides the body with certain nutrients, more and more people trust organic products. Their main characteristic is that, due to their production method, they minimise their adverse impact on the environment.
Organic vegetables (fruit, vegetables, legumes, greens) are grown naturally, without the use of chemical fertilisers, pesticides or genetically modified seeds. Their agricultural processes respect the natural cycles of ripening and growth, as well as crop rotation. In turn, they contribute to preserving biodiversity, as not only the most productive and profitable seeds are grown, but also native varieties that are well adapted and balanced with the ecosystem.
According to the Annual Report on Organic Production in Spain 2020, the consumption of organic food has grown by 96% in our country since 2012, and six out of ten people already include it in their shopping basket.
